Poochy Doos, LLC wants to thank all of the men and women in the military serving our country. We hope everyone takes a moment today to remember all the heroes and victims of war and the families who support them.
While there are all sorts of ways we can lend our support to active duty military, we wanted to highlight an organization close to our hearts, Dogs On Deployment, and the pets needing deployed into loving homes, right here in Colorado.
About Dogs On Deployment
Dogs on Deployment is a 501(c)(3) non-profit promoting responsible, lifelong pet ownership by providing resources, advocacy and education for military pet owners. This includes building the largest online network for military members to search for volunteers who are willing to board their pets during their service commitments. They also advocate for increased pet owner rights on military installations, provide financial assistance for help with emergency pet care for military families and promote education initiatives to promote healthy pets.
Dogs On Deployment – History & Mission
Dogs on Deployment was launched in June 2011. They were founded by Alisa and Shawn Johnson, who serve in the US Marine Corps and Navy respectively. As pet owners, both Alisa and Shawn understood the stress that can be placed on animal owners during service commitments when facing the uncertainty of care for their animals.
Addressing this concern, the mission of Dogs on Deployment is to give military members peace of mind concerning their pets during their service commitments by providing them with the ability to find people and resources able to help them.
Dogs (and Cats) on Deployment in Colorado
Yes! Dogs on Deployment also helps services members place their feline friends! There are currently 18 dogs and cats awaiting to be deployed into loving, caring homes in Colorado. From Labradors to Maine Coons, you can provide vital support to a military member in need by opening your home to care for their pet. We in turn, are happy to provide pet sitting and dog walking services to you, at a discounted rate.
Both my dad and Ann’s served in the military and we know the stress it can cause and the demands it can place on families and loved ones. We want to personally congratulate Dogs On Deployment for their success and service. Dogs on Deployment was recognized in 2013 by Great Non-Profits as a Top-Rated 5-Star Non-Profit – and the recognition is well deserved.
