Kellie grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas where she discovered her love for animals at a very young age. Even though cats were the main “family pets,” that didn’t stop her from finding dogs to pet sit and love. Indeed, Kellie began rescuing dogs at the tender young age of eight.

While attending Texas State University, Kellie’s animal care expanded to include snakes, hedgehogs, rabbits, bearded dragons, and gerbils. After college, Kellie pursued her passion for advocacy by volunteering her time fostering and caring for rescued and special-needs animals at Techridge Animal Hospital and Austin Pets Alive. Although she fostered a number of pups, one special pair remains close to her heart: Emma and Ada. Kellie rescued the mother/daughter pair in 2014 from a life of severe neglect. With gumption and Facebook, she raised thousands of dollars to nurse the two back from acute mange, heart-worm disease, and serious behavioral issues resulting from life lived on a short chain. Both Emma and Ada found their forever homes in 2015 and are now thriving with their new families, thanks to Kellie’s pet sitting and care giving skills.

Kellie is currently Mom to two grey tabbies and two dogs – a Rhodesian Ridgeback and German Shepherd-mix as well as a Labrador-mix. She is an avid Horsetooth Dog Park patron and loves nothing more than meeting new people and their fur-babies.Kellie loves Fort Collins and wants to bring her love and knowledge of animals to her new home.

Besides pet sitting and dog walking, Kellie enjoys running and hiking with her pups in the Foothills. She also works as a freelance editor and enjoys reading, sketching, socializing, and discovering new food. “Yes, admits Kellie, “I’m a sketchy foodie.”

“I am honored to be a part of the Poochy Doos pet sitting team which gives me an outlet to share my love and knowledge of animals with other pet-lovers in our community,” says Kellie.
